ATHENS COUNTY ENGINEER CONTRACTS WITH LJB INC. TO PERFORM SAFETY STUDY ON RADFORD ROAD (CR 19)
In August of 2015, the Athens County Engineer’s Office received a 90% reimbursement grant from the County Engineer’s Association of Ohio (CEAO) to perform a Safety Study on Radford Road (CR 19). The following is included in the grant:
- Safety Study – Study All Accidents
- Speed Zone Study
- Asset Inventories
- Guardrail Inventory
- Pavement Marking Inventory
- Roadside Hazard Inventory
- Sign Compliance
- Operational Analysis at Major Intersections
- Project Total Cost = $42,422.00
- Cost to County (10%) = $4,242.20
The Safety Study contract was finalized on January 12th, 2016 with LJB Inc. Founded in 1966, LJB provides civil and structural engineering, as well as safety and environmental services. LJB is a recognized leader in traffic safety studies, having successfully delivered studies to city and county governments, transportation planning organizations, and nearly every District for the Ohio Department of Transportation. The firm has Ohio offices in Dayton, Cleveland, and Lima, as well as locations in Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Texas.
LJB plans to complete the project by May 31st, 2016. The Athens County Engineer will use the information contained in the Safety Study Report to pursue grant funding in July 2016, in order to begin making safety upgrades along Radford Road.
